          as lanterns flicker and particles fail
          we dream ourselves jellyfish and trilobite tail

Submitted via email, Paul Gladden's "The Waning, The Spell" lyrics were incorporated into two full length songs on each disc of Mark Gladden's double-CD album, "Dear Universe Please & May I." We might feel guilty for the insider selection, but it was honestly the best entry!

Always thought you could write a better song than half of the one's you hear on the radio? Spent hours scribbling poems and lyrics on your notebook back in college? Now's your chance to have your words sung on a professionally produced album.

Official Rules:

• Write a song with 100 words or less
• Utilize a reasonable rhyme scheme (e.g. AABB, ABAB)
• Submit your entry on facebook or by emailing markgladden@ymail.com
• Describe the general idea of the song (mood)

The contest winner was announced on June 25th, 2010. The new song is being recorded and will be released on the upcoming double-disc Dear Universe album. You will receive full credit in the album liner notes and artwork, and you can brag to your friends that you're a published ghost writer!
